
KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong Motor Company (hangul: 쌍용자동차), is a South Korean automobile manufacturer and the fourth largest automaker in South Korea. Founded in 1954, its original name meant Twin Dragons. In 1997, Daewoo Motors acquired control of the company, but sold it in 2000 due to financial difficulties. At the end of 2004, the Chinese company SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) purchased a 51% stake. In February 2011, Mahindra & Mahindra acquired 70% of SsangYong after being named the preferred bidder in 2010 to acquire the company, which was under bankruptcy protection. The acquisition by Mahindra was approved by the Korea Fair Trade Commission. In January 2019, Mahindra & Mahindra held a 74.65% stake in the company
